Land and Sea (Salt)

Some internal thoughts:

There is an internal conflict within myself, my moral/spiritual beliefs. I found myself apologising and feeling remorseful for laying salt onto the ground. I knew what I was doing, what was going to happen, and doing it anyway as an artistic process.

This process of interacting and/or intervening with the land, I found my artistic and spiritual ethics clashing. On one hand, laying salt onto the land kills nature, while on the other hand, is it also part of nature to interact, intervene, interrupt or die (this refers to my spiritual ‘Oneness’ with all things (natural and unnatural)). From an artistic point of view, it looks really good, has great potential as a public piece, a ‘free’ piece (loosely speaking, since there are materials involved), I like the experience, and simplicity of the finished result.

The reference to circle as a ‘multi-dimensional tool’ to other realms, the Vesica Pisces as symbolic representation, the intention (and emotions of connectivity), and concepts correlating to Land Art, New Materiality and Interconnectivity
